Ministry of Awqaf Inaugurates Historic Mosque in Al-Jumailiya

Al-jumailiya: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has inaugurated a historic mosque in the Al-Rafiq area of Al-Jumailiya. This comes after the completion of comprehensive maintenance work. The initiative is part of the ministry's plan to expand and develop mosques across the country, aligning with urban growth, population increase, and Qatar National Vision 2030.

According to Qatar News Agency, the historic mosque features a main prayer hall that can accommodate 36 worshippers. The mosque's liwan is equipped to hold an additional 36 individuals, specifically for Friday prayers. A 120-square-meter courtyard complements the facility, featuring a minaret in the southeastern corner that reflects traditional architectural styles. The ablution area is situated in the northeastern section of the mosque.

The ministry has detailed that maintenance work has been conducted on both the exterior and interior walls of the mosque to preserve its heritage character. This included the construction of a new roof that maintains the traditional architectural spirit of historic mosques. Emphasizing the importance of heritage preservation, the ministry has also equipped the mosque with a new electrical network, air conditioning, lighting and sound systems, and security and safety devices.
