Ministry of Labour Undersecretary, Singaporean Counterpart Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in Labour Sector

Doha: HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with HE Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Singapore Stanley Loh. The meeting explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the areas of labour market policy development, skills development and workforce training, and social protection, as well as means of further supporting and expanding cooperation.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani highlighted that Qatar prioritizes the development of its labour system through continuous modernization of legislation and policies, improving the working environment, and strengthening the protection of workers' rights. She emphasized the importance of investing in vocational training, professional development, and enhancing workforce efficiency and skills in alignment with labour market requirements and developments.

Her Excellency stated that the meeting serves as an important platform for strengthening dialogue, exchanging expertise, and benefiting from successful experiences in developing labour market policies and enhancing human capital capabilities. She commended Singapore's leading experience in occupational safety and health, social protection systems, skills development, and aligning education and training outcomes with labour market needs, expressing Qatar's aspiration to expand cooperation and exchange best practices between the two nations.

Additionally, Her Excellency underlined the significance of the official visit and the accompanying technical meetings in enhancing communication between relevant authorities, opening new avenues for partnership, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise in support of the shared interests of both countries.
