Doha: The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has confirmed that Monday, December 2, 2024, will mark the astronomical beginning of the month of Jumada al-Akhirah for the year 1446 AH, based on precise astronomical calculations by its specialists. According to Qatar News Agency, Eng. Faisal Al Ansari, Executive Director of Sheikh Abdullah Al Ansari Complex, explained that the crescent of the month of Jumada al-Akhirah for 1446 AH will be born on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 9:22 AM Doha local time (6:22 AM GMT). This day is recognized as the day of sighting. One of the fundamental astronomical principles is that the moon's orbit around the Earth determines the beginnings and ends of the Hijri months. In contrast, the Earth's orbit around the Sun dictates the beginnings and ends of the Gregorian months.
