Doha: Several municipalities in the State of Qatar, as part of Qatar Sustainability Week under the theme "For a Sustainable Future," have organized awareness and agricultural activities aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and spreading a culture of sustainability among community members, in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
According to Qatar News Agency, Doha Municipality, in collaboration with the Public Cleaning Department, held an awareness lecture titled "Benefits of Home Gardening and Waste Sorting at Source," in partnership with Qatar Social Work Foundation and Al-Nukhba Recycling Company. The initiative reflects the municipality's priority in raising environmental and social awareness and encouraging eco-friendly practices at home.
Al Wakrah Municipality contributed to this initiative by participating in the cleaning campaign of Al Wakrah Public Beach, in cooperation with Doha University of Science and Technology and the Friends of the Environment Center. The campaign saw the involvement of volunteers and students, under the "My Civilized City" initiative.
In another effort, Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality organized an agricultural workshop for students of Abdullah bin Ali Al Misnad Preparatory School for Boys. This workshop, conducted in collaboration with the Youth Committee at Al Khor SC, focused on teaching methods of planting, plant care, and the importance of conserving natural resources.
Umm Salal Municipality also played its part by holding an awareness and agricultural workshop for students of Rosy Land Nursery. The workshop covered modern agricultural topics such as soilless farming and environmental protection, alongside practical plant-growing activities, aiming to instill sustainability values in young children.
