Muscat: Oman's main stock market index closed modestly higher on Monday, despite a decline in trading activity. The Muscat Stock Exchange's benchmark MSM 30 index ended the session at 6,233.10 points, up 9.3 points, or 0.15%, compared with the previous close of 6,223.77.
According to Qatar News Agency, trading value fell to OMR 43.03 million, representing a decline of 4.3% from the previous session, when turnover stood at nearly OMR 44.98 million. The market's total capitalisation edged up by 0.053% to approximately OMR 33.27 billion, as reported in a statement released by the Muscat Stock Exchange.
Market analysts said the session reflected cautious investor sentiment, with selective buying supporting a slight rise in the benchmark index.
