London: Oil prices declined Thursday, after gains in previous sessions, amid investors monitoring developments in global markets. Brent crude futures fell 67 cents, or 0.69%, to $97.14 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped 62 cents, or 0.65%, to $95.40 per barrel.
According to Qatar News Agency, both crude benchmarks had previously climbed about 2% on Wednesday, extending gains from the prior session. In the United States, data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) indicated that crude inventories fell by 8 million barrels to 433.7 million barrels for the week ending May 29.
