Oman Discusses Situation in Occupied Territories with Palestine, Arab League

Muscat: Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi discussed, in two separate phone calls today, with his Palestinian counterpart, Farsin Aghabekian Shahin, and with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, various developments related to the Palestinian issue, as well as the latest regional developments.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Busaidi reviewed with his Palestinian counterpart the regional and international efforts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, affirming his country's firm and unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, most recently Resolution 2803, and the importance of the full and active participation of the Palestinian side in the efforts exerted in this regard.

The Omani Foreign Minister also discussed with Aboul Gheit the latest developments on the regional scene, given the rapidly evolving challenges facing the region and their repercussions on security and stability. He emphasized the importance his country attaches to the pivotal role of the League of Arab States in efforts to contain tensions, promote de-escalation and political solutions, and the necessity of intensifying Arab consultation and coordination to safeguard shared Arab security, the higher interests of the region's peoples, and its stability.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue and the Arab and international efforts to halt the escalation and solidify the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. They stressed the importance of supporting the political process and enabling the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them their right to self-determination, in accordance with international law.
