Oman’s Deputy PM Affirms Qatar’s Security as Integral to Gulf Cooperation Council Security at Summit

Doha: HH Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Shihab bin Tarik bin Taimur Al Said, affirmed today that the security of the State of Qatar is part of the security of the entire Gulf, and part of the security of the Arab and Islamic nation. He stressed the need to take action in the United Nations, the Security Council, and the General Assembly to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a speech delivered on behalf of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, His Highness stated that the attack on Qatar reveals the seriousness of the current phase and the expansion of the war waged by Israel in the region, disregarding international law, international legitimacy, or the sanctity of innocent blood.

His Highness emphasized that targeting Qatar, a key player in calming the situation and reviving the peace process in Palestine, only distances the region from achieving a just and comprehensive peace that fulfills the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

HH Shihab bin Tarik Al Said expressed Oman's full solidarity with Qatar, its leadership, government, and people, emphasizing that Qatar's security is integral to the security of the entire Gulf, as well as the Arab and Islamic nations.

He added that the duty extends beyond condemnation, requiring practical and tangible steps, particularly on legal and diplomatic levels, to address the situation.

HH Shihab bin Tarik Al Said urged action at the United Nations, the Security Council, and the General Assembly, utilizing international law to hold Israel accountable and working collectively to halt actions that threaten international peace.

His Highness highlighted that international silence in the face of these violations fuels impunity and encourages further aggression. He called for unified efforts to translate Arab and Islamic solidarity into clear positions and effective pressure to end the occupation, halt attacks, and restore respect for international legitimacy resolutions.

In conclusion, HH Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs of Oman emphasized the capability of Arab and Islamic nations to face challenges through unity, stating that solidarity is the best path to safeguarding the future of their peoples and protecting their homelands.
