Palestinian Cabinet Calls for Global Spring into Action to Abolish Prisoner Execution Bill

Ramallah: The Israeli Knesset's endorsement of a motion legalizing the execution of prisoners lays bare methodical policies that are based on extermination, discrimination, and impunity against the Palestinian people, the Palestinian Cabinet confirmed during its weekly session today.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet stressed that this move will never yield security and peace, but exposes the superiority of the far-right entity over the Israeli decision and legislation, and flagrantly gives no qualms about international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. The Cabinet called for urgent action to ramp up pressure toward abolishing this motion, as it holds a legislative cover to shoot to kill and deepen the field execution approach.

The Cabinet appealed for Israeli officials to be taken to task and slapped by deterrent sanctions, in addition to ensuring protection for the Palestinian prisoners. It reiterated the importance of adhering to the legitimate national rights, foremost of which is the right to freedom, self-determination, and return. The Cabinet warned of the menace of settler returning decision to Jenin Governorate and the escalating attacks in the Jordan Valley and various other areas.

The Cabinet also deplored the summary execution of two Palestinian young men in Tulkarm and Hebron, cautioning of the seriousness of these criminal violations. On Monday, the Israeli Knesset voted a bill to execute the Palestinian prisoners in a move that was described as unprecedented and poses a perilous escalation against human rights and runs afoul of international law.
