Post: Palestinian Organizations Call for Repeal of Death Penalty Law for Prisoners

Accra:Palestinian prisoner organizations have demanded the repeal of a law that imposes the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners, alongside the unconditional release of all detainees and independent international investigations into allegations of torture, medical neglect, and deaths occurring in Israeli detention.

According to Qatar News Agency, these organizations made their appeal in a joint statement released on the World Day Against the Death Penalty. They accused Israeli occupation authorities of systematic abuse, including torture, starvation, and the denial of medical care to prisoners.

The groups reported that at least 92 Palestinian prisoners and detainees, whose identities are known, have died in custody since October 2023. Additionally, they noted that others from Gaza were either killed in the field or died under torture.

The organizations have called on the international community to undertake concrete legal and political actions to protect detainees, determine the fate of missing prisoners, and ensure accountability for any violations committed.
