New York:Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed that the Palestinian people will not leave their homeland, will not accept displacement, and will not allow anyone to decide their future on their behalf.
According to Qatar News Agency, Abbas reiterated his commitment to a peace based on international legitimacy, which ensures freedom, independence, security, and peace for all the peoples of the region.
In a recorded speech to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Abbas stated that the Palestinian people will not remain passive nor accept what the governments of the Israeli occupying power decide for them. He emphasized that no lasting security can be built upon the occupation of another people and the denial of their legitimate rights.
He highlighted the national project focused on protecting Palestinians from displacement, preserving their land and its unity, democratically renewing institutions, and exercising the right to self-determination. This project aims to realize an independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital and secure the return of refugees in accordance with UN Resolution 194.
Abbas pointed out that the Palestinian people are facing one of the most perilous stages in their history, noting that the current threat goes beyond undermining the two-state solution. It now endangers the very existence of the Palestinian people on their land.
He stressed that the events in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are part of a broader colonial scheme intended to force Palestinians to leave their homeland.
