Hanoi:As winter nears, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is intensifying efforts to raise awareness about the importance of vaccinations in protecting public health. This initiative covers a wide range of groups including children, adolescents, adults, pregnant women, older adults, and those at higher risk of complications.
According to Qatar News Agency, PHCC offers comprehensive vaccination services, which include routine and seasonal immunizations, as well as vaccines for travelers and pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah. These services align with the national immunization program.
Dr. Hamad Al Mudhahka, Executive Director of Preventive Health at PHCC, highlighted the significance of educating the public on the benefits of vaccines for both individual and community health. He noted that PHCC's preventive health department is dedicated to enhancing vaccine awareness through targeted campaigns and educational events.
Dr. Khalid Al Awad, Director of Health Protection at PHCC, emphasized the corporation's commitment to improving public understanding of vaccines and the importance of vaccination services. According to PHCC, their programs cover vaccines such as MMR; diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis; polio; hepatitis B; seasonal influenza; HPV; pneumococcal disease; COVID-19; RSV; and meningococcal disease.
For children, the vaccination schedule includes vital vaccines against diseases such as tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, polio, rotavirus infection, pneumococcal disease, chickenpox, measles, rubella, and mumps. Dr. Al Awad stressed that missing a scheduled dose should not deter parents from continuing their child's vaccination course, as catch-up schedules are available to ensure completion.
Seasonal influenza vaccination is particularly emphasized during the respiratory virus season. PHCC recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone aged 6 months and older, with special attention to high-risk groups like young children, older adults, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, and healthcare workers. The flu vaccine, available free of charge at PHCC health centers across Qatar, is crucial as influenza strains vary each season.
PHCC's approach to immunization covers all life stages, reinforcing the principle of lifelong prevention. Individuals are encouraged to review their vaccination needs regularly, not just in childhood. The annual flu vaccine is a key preventive measure as flu season approaches, contributing to broader disease prevention efforts and community health protection.
