President of Ashghal Highlights National Day as a Pillar of Loyalty and Development

Doha: HE President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meer emphasized that Qatar National Day serves as a vital occasion for the Qatari people to celebrate their national identity and heritage. It is a moment to renew their loyalty to the country's wise leadership and find inspiration in the legacy of the founder, Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani, who established Qatar on principles of dignity, sovereignty, and unity.

According to Qatar News Agency, Eng. Al Meer stated that the National Day symbolizes a strong sense of belonging to the homeland and a reaffirmation of commitment to ongoing development, aligned with the vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. His Highness's phrase "With You It Rises, From You It Awaits" encapsulates the national vision, placing Qataris at the forefront of progress.

His Excellency highlighted the enduring bond between the leadership and the people, with National Day reinforcing values of unity and loyalty, especially among the youth. It is also an occasion to express gratitude for the sacrifices of the founder and the achievements of subsequent leaders, providing a moment to reflect on the nation's journey and its resilience in overcoming challenges.

Discussing Ashghal's strategic initiatives, Eng. Al Meer unveiled projects worth over QR 81 billion, focusing on roads, sewage networks, public buildings, and stormwater drainage projects in Doha. He mentioned a significant QAR 21 billion support to the contracting sector to expedite project completion and announced a new QAR 12 billion project package, including 13 contracts for infrastructure development.

Eng. Al Meer revealed that Ashghal plans to implement advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles to enhance infrastructure, alongside robots and drones in the sewage network. In public buildings, the awarding of projects includes new schools, safety upgrades, and the development of a psychiatric hospital and horse-breeding farm.

On the topic of Qatarization, Eng. Al Meer noted a remarkable 320 percent growth in Qatari employees over eight years, driven by robust training programs. In sustainability, Ashghal is committed to using local and recycled materials, including significant recycling of rubber tires and milled asphalt, while expanding green spaces and pathways to support environmental sustainability.

In his remarks to QNA, Eng. Al Meer reaffirmed Ashghal's dedication to supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030, the Third National Development Strategy, and the development of a modern, sustainable infrastructure that aligns with the state's vision for a prosperous future.
