Qatar Athletics Federation Plans Training Camp in Japan Ahead of World Championships

Doha: The Qatar Athletics Federation announced Wednesday that it will organize a training camp for the national team in Narita, Japan. The strategic decision to hold the camp in Narita is to help the athletes acclimatize to conditions similar to those they will face during the World Championships in Tokyo next September.

According to Qatar News Agency, the training camp will feature a selection of track and field athletes along with their coaching staff as they prepare for the global event in Tokyo. The federation emphasized that athletes participating in the camp have already qualified for the World Championships, with additional athletes potentially joining should they achieve the necessary qualifying standards.

The primary focus of the Qatar Athletics Federation is to maximize the number of athletes qualifying for the championships, continuing the nation's successful history in world athletics events. Many Qatari runners have the opportunity to secure their spots by competing in International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)-approved meetings across various European cities before the championships commence.

Among the most notable qualifiers for the World Championships is runner Abdelrahman Samba, alongside teammates Ammar Ismail, Bassem Hemeida, Ashraf Othman, and Hatem Hamid. The federation's efforts aim to ensure that these athletes maintain their competitive edge on the world stage.
