Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated that the Cabinet reviewed a draft law amending certain provisions of Law No. (1) of 2019, which regulates the investment of non-Qatari capital in economic activities. This draft law, prepared by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, aims to enhance the attractiveness of foreign investment in targeted fields and activities and increase private sector contributions to the GDP. This aligns with the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.
The Cabinet also approved draft decisions by the Minister of Commerce and Industry to adopt regional technical regulations and international standards as Qatari regulations. These decisions aim to keep pace with developments in standards and metrology, promote exports, ensure import quality, facilitate trade exchange, and improve the quality of goods, especially in food and agricultural production, medical products, construction materials, and consumer goods.
In addition, the Cabinet approved the Qatar National Sports Policy, developed by the Ministry of Sports and Youth in coordination with the National Planning Council. This policy aims to develop the sports sector, support athletic excellence, and promote healthy lifestyles, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.
Furthermore, the Cabinet decided to approve a draft agreement with Iraq on the avoidance of double taxation and a draft letter of intent with Belgium on cooperation in mediation and facilitation.
The Cabinet concluded by reviewing reports on participation in the 41st session of the Arab Ministers of Justice Council in Cairo and the GCC meetings in Kuwait, taking appropriate measures based on these reviews.
