Qatar Chamber Engages in Trade Talks with Malawi and South Sudan

Doha: First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari recently held separate meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, Monday Semaya K. Kumba, and the Minister of Industrialisation, Business, Trade and Tourism of Malawi, George Patridge. Discussions emphasized enhancing trade and economic relations between Qatar's private sector and those of South Sudan and Malawi.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Kuwari highlighted the Chamber's interest in exploring South Sudan's economic opportunities and business environment. He reiterated the Chamber's support for initiatives fostering cooperation between the Qatari and South Sudanese business communities. Minister Monday Kumba expressed South Sudan's desire to attract Qatari investments and affirmed that his government offers various facilities, incentives, and guarantees to investors.

Qatar Chamber Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli endorsed the concept of establishing a joint business council, emphasizing the necessity of involving proactive business leaders committed to creating sustainable trade and investment partnerships. Al Kuwari also mentioned Qatar's keen interest in expanding investments across Africa, with a particular focus on exploring opportunities in Malawi.

Al Kuwari further emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Qatar Chamber and the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry to promote communication between the private sectors of both nations and introduce Qatari investors to potential partnership and joint venture opportunities. Minister George Patridge welcomed Qatari investments in all sectors and praised Qatar's efforts in supporting Africa's economic growth.

Patridge highlighted Malawi's favorable investment climate and the incentives available to investors, including a one-stop business window that streamlines procedures and facilitates the establishment of new ventures.
