Qatar Charity organizes the Sports Challenge Program

In support of the “Warmth and Peace” winter campaign, Qatar Charity organized the “Sports Challenge” program, with the participation of 190 athletes, amateurs, and families participating in the challenge, in addition to the sponsoring and organizing sports and community institutions.

The challenge aims to enhance the value of charitable and humanitarian work and seeks to support refugees and the needy in the winter season and raise awareness of their needs by organizing a series of sports challenges stations that embody their suffering in the winter.

The challenge activities were sponsored by the Gold sponsor’s Dukhan Bank, silver sponsors Qatar Museums (the Olympic and Sports Museum), and the United Development and Racine Company, in addition to the organizing partners, the Qatar Cyclists Team, and the Q-Tri Team.

Activities and competitions

The challenge, which was held in the garden of the Museum of Islamic Art, included several sports activities,

such as the bicycle competition that started from the museum garden to Pearl Island and back to the starting place and traveled a distance of 40 km, then a running race for 5 km, and the challenge of families, which was a correction challenge.

The goal is a wooden board with several slots; each slot with a value for the participant to shoot the ball at the slot to get points, in addition to the “Tent Installation” challenge, a challenge between two families to score the fastest family that installs the tent within two minutes, and the challenge of transporting wood and transporting water.

Thanks and gratitude

Mrs. Fatima Al Mohannadi, Director of local Programs and Community Development Department at Qatar Charity, expressed her thanks and appreciation to all sponsors, supporters, volunteers, and partners for organizing this challenge, expressing her hope for continued cooperation with Qatar Charity in its various activities.

She added that the Sports Challenge event is one of several programs that seek to support the “Warmth and Peace” campaign.

And also aim to raise awareness of the needs of millions of refugees and needy people around the world who live in difficult conditions and dream of a warm winter in which they do not face challenges and risks, by integrating the ideas of sports challenges with the needs of those affected.

Humanitarian through sports

For his part, Mr. Talal Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Marketing and Communications at Dukhan Bank,said: “We are pleased to unite our efforts with many athletes, amateurs, families, and institutions, and to harness our resources to bring the event out in its optimal form.

We also express our deep thanks to Qatar Charity for this cooperation in which our visions are consistent and the objectives of our programs and community initiatives are in harmony.”

Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Al-Iraqi, Head of Events, Activities and Public Relations at Racine Company, said: “Our participation in the Sports Challenge event comes as a community event concerned with sports and harnessing it for humanitarian charitable work.

Dr. Nasser Al-Mohannadi, President of the QTRI and a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, said: “We thank Qatar Charity for this charitable sporting event, and we are pleased with this participation that integrates sport into charitable work.”

For his part, Hamad Salem Al-Jaidi, Director of Operations at the Qatar Cyclists Center, said, “The initiative is related to serving humanitarian work, sharing the suffering of the needy and contributing through sport to alleviate them.
