Doha: On the Arab front, Al-Sharq highlighted Qatar's condemnation of Israeli settler attacks on several villages in the occupied West Bank, describing them as a continuation of Israeli policies aimed at escalating violence against the Palestinian people and a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions. According to Qatar News Agency, the newspaper stated that the escalating violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, most recently the attacks on several villages, including the burning of homes, agricultural lands and vehicles, uprooting of large numbers of trees, and assaults on Palestinians under the protection of the Israeli military and security forces, reflects a continuation of Israeli entity's far-right government to push the region toward greater instability and violence.
The newspaper added that the absence of international deterrence or accountability for the perpetrators has encouraged ongoing violations against the Palestinian people. These settler attacks, backed and enabled by the occupying government, are being used as a means to advance plans to annex the occupied West Bank and forcibly displace Palestinians. Al-Sharq concluded by calling on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by taking immediate action to stop repeated settler attacks, provide protection for the Palestinian people, hold those responsible accountable, and support the Palestinian people's legitimate right to establish an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only path to a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
For its part, Al-Watan emphasized that the occupied West Bank is witnessing a highly dangerous attempt at its Judaization through the demolition of inhabited homes and commercial and agricultural facilities, recent actions targeting the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, continued settlement expansion, and ongoing attacks against Palestinians and their property. The newspaper also highlighted remarks by the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, who said that Israeli settlers and the military are jointly carrying out mass killings of unarmed civilians across the occupied West Bank, noting that the international community has failed to take any serious measures to pressure Israel into halting these crimes.
Al-Watan concluded by expressing concern that the situation in the Gaza Strip has slipped lower on the world's list of priorities despite the continued killing and suffering, stressing the need for urgent international action to end the Israeli military campaign, lift the blockade, and reject plans to displace Palestinians forcibly.
