Nagoya: Qatar has been drawn alongside Iran, Jordan, and Chinese Taipei in Group B of the men's basketball competition at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026. The Games will take place in Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, featuring 12 teams divided into three groups of four.
According to Qatar News Agency, Group A includes Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, while Group C features China, the Philippines, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan. Qatar is set to begin its campaign against Iran on September 10, followed by matches against Jordan on September 12 and Chinese Taipei on September 13.
Qatar's men's basketball team has a notable record, including its first-ever qualification for the 2006 FIBA World Cup in Japan. The team has also achieved significant success in the past, winning back-to-back Asian Championship bronze medals in 2003 and 2005 and claiming the 2004 Asian Challenge Cup title.
