Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in the 38th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport, held in Cairo. The Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting covered various topics concerning pan-Arab ground, maritime, air, and multimodal transportation. Key discussions included the regulation of road transportation for passengers and goods between and across Arab countries, the creation of a comprehensive Arab e-platform for road, rail, maritime, and multimodal transportation, and the unification of HAZMAT transportation protocols.
The council also examined a study on adopting smart and sustainable transportation components as a reference for developing future transportation strategies. Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the importance of developing and sharing information on transportation, warehousing, and logistics strategies. Promoting the use of clean energy in ground transportation and exchanging lessons and expertise were also highlighted, alongside assessing the efficiency of goods and passenger transportation across member states.
