Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Public Prosecution, participated in the sixth meeting of the Arab Association for Prosecutors, held in New Alamein City in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Qatari delegation was led by First Attorney General and Director of the Judicial Inspection Department Abdullah Mohammed Al Malki, along with several other members of the Public Prosecution.
According to Qatar News Agency, the participants in the meeting deliberated on approving amendments to the Association's governing principles, including setting the terms of office for members of the Executive Committee. The meeting also focused on establishing the Association's permanent headquarters in Egypt, completing its administrative structure, and developing its digital documentation registry.
Further discussions covered the financial status of the Association and proposed workshops for 2026. Meetings of the focal points, the Executive Committee, and the General Assembly featured comprehensive discussions on key issues. Participants explored ways to collaborate with the League of Arab States to enhance the Association's presence and approved engagement with the European Union Agency based on a draft memorandum of understanding prepared by the General Secretariat. Amendments to the Riyadh Arab Agreement for Judicial Cooperation were also considered.
The meeting also included a proposal to launch an annual award honoring distinguished members of the public prosecution services of member states. Other significant topics from the General Secretariat's report were addressed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Qatari Public Prosecutor Nasser Ali Al Nuaimi was recognized with the Association's annual Distinguished Members Award, acknowledging his exceptional contributions to the legal field. This event marked Qatar's first participation since joining the Association, highlighting the State's commitment to fostering joint Arab cooperation, exchanging expertise, and promoting legal development across the Arab region.
