Manama:Qatar took part in a significant joint meeting involving the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries alongside the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, in Bahrain.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and HE Governor of Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani. The meeting focused on the economic outlook for GCC nations and discussed policy priorities in the context of current geopolitical developments and regional challenges.
The discussions also centered around strategies to ensure economic stability, enhance resilience against geopolitical and trade-related disruptions, and promote economic diversification. Additionally, they explored ways to support private sector-led growth and advance structural reforms to create jobs and boost the competitiveness of Gulf economies.
HE Minister of Finance highlighted the necessity of reinforcing economic resilience and advancing diversification efforts. He emphasized that the ongoing challenges should be seen as an impetus for increased cooperation and regional integration. Furthermore, he praised the IMF's role in assessing the economic implications of current events and emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue with the fund to bolster economic and financial stability.
