Doha: Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has signed a $1 million grant agreement with ITF Enhancing Human Security (ITF) to support the Palestine Hospital in Harmalah, Bethlehem, with the goal of bolstering the healthcare system in the State of Palestine.
According to Qatar News Agency, the signing ceremony was attended by the Chairperson of QFFD, Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al-Thani, and was signed by Director General of QFFD, Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, and Director of ITF, Ambassador Tomaz Lovrencic. This financial contribution will empower ITF to enhance the hospital's capacity to address emergency medical needs by facilitating the procurement of raw materials and improving access to essential healthcare and rehabilitation services for those affected by conflict, including residents of Gaza.
Fahad bin Hamad Al Sulaiti emphasized the importance of access to quality medical care, stating that it is a fundamental right and essential for sustainable development. Through this partnership with ITF, QFFD aims to fortify hospitals as vital components of resilience, equipped to respond to crises, protect lives, and restore the well-being of communities impacted by conflict. He highlighted that this agreement represents Qatar's unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and reaffirms the shared commitment to addressing their urgent needs amid challenging humanitarian conditions.
Ambassador Tomaz Lovrencic of ITF highlighted the urgent need for action to support Palestinian victims of explosive remnants of war. He noted that vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, require appropriate medical attention, including prosthetic care and psychosocial support.
The collaboration between QFFD and ITF underscores a shared dedication to advancing equitable healthcare, enhancing resilience, and promoting human security in areas affected by conflict.
