Post: Qatar Hosts 11th AIIB Annual Meeting

Doha:The 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) commenced under the theme "Tomorrow's Infrastructure Impact and Innovation." The event was held under the patronage and in the presence of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. It gathered governors, senior officials, and partners from across the globe to discuss strategies for addressing increasing infrastructure demands.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting attracted a record attendance of over 1,000 participants, including more than 48 ministers worldwide. This turnout highlights the significance of the AIIB, a multilateral financial institution that supports development projects, climate action, and other initiatives across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and North America.

Qatar's hosting of the AIIB meeting reinforces its status as a leading international venue for major economic and financial events. The event underscores Qatar's prominent role on the global stage and the confidence it garners internationally. As a founding member of the AIIB since 2015, Qatar remains a key partner in development cooperation, playing an essential role in advancing development and enhancing regional connectivity.

Additionally, English-language newspaper The Peninsula reported significant changes in Qatar's education sector, focusing on quality and accountability over mere expansion. The launch of the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education, developed in collaboration with UNESCO and ALECSO, offers institutions tools to evaluate performance, identify weaknesses, and measure improvement. This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Strategy 2024-2030, emphasizing the development of independent thinkers and contributors to society.

The Peninsula concluded that while increased flexibility in the education system is beneficial, it must be accompanied by robust oversight to ensure quality assurance. The Ministry of Education's continued monitoring will be essential in maintaining these standards.
