Post: Qatar Investment Authority Backs Positron AI in USD 875 Million Series C Financing

Doha: Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) today announced its participation in Positron AI's USD 875 million Series C financing, which values the AI inference hardware company at USD 5 billion.

According to Qatar News Agency, the financing round was co-led by NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, Jim Clark, founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape, among other investors. QIA had previously participated in Positron's Series B funding round in February 2026, indicating its ongoing commitment to the company's growth.

Positron AI focuses on creating hardware and software designed to enhance the efficiency of AI inference, the process of operating trained AI models. As the demand for AI agents, assistants, and copilots increases, the infrastructure required for inference is becoming increasingly limited by memory capacity, bandwidth, and power consumption needs.

The company's innovative memory-first architecture aims to address these limitations while reducing dependence on restricted High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate (CoWoS) supply chains. This approach allows for deployment in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled data centers, offering greater flexibility and efficiency.

The recent financing will be utilized to further develop and commercialize Positron's cutting-edge technology. This includes the tapeout of Asimov, Positron's next-generation silicon, and the production ramp of Titan, its multi-terabyte-memory inference system.

AI inference is becoming a vital component of the global technology infrastructure landscape. QIA's investment reflects its strategic focus on supporting innovative companies that are at the forefront of AI adoption and long-term technological growth.
