Doha:The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially included Qatar on its list of interested parties to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, marking a significant step in the nation's pursuit of hosting one of the world's largest sporting events.
According to Qatar News Agency, the IOC's announcement was accompanied by the release of a handbook for potential hosts and a confirmed list of interested parties. This move outlines the next steps in the revised selection process for choosing the host city for the 2036 Games.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, CEO of the Doha 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Committee, expressed enthusiasm over the confirmation, highlighting Qatar's ambition to host the Games. She emphasized that this marks the beginning of a new phase in the bid process, leveraging Qatar's extensive experience in organizing major international sporting events.
Al Kuwari further noted that Doha 2036 aims to present a future-ready model for the Games, focusing on being athlete-centered, connected, and accessible.
