Doha: In its editorial, Al-Arab newspaper emphasized the start of the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year in Qatar, highlighting schools as places of both academic and personal development. The paper underlined the importance of this period in continuing the educational journey, which is vital for the country’s growth and development.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab stressed that schools play a crucial role in preparing the future generation to tackle contemporary challenges. The second semester offers an opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skills, becoming active community members. The newspaper pointed out that returning to school is more than just resuming routines; it is a chance for personal and national development through commitment and hard work. School discipline, it noted, helps instill a sense of responsibility in students, enabling them to contribute productively to their communities.
Al-Arab concluded that the second semester marks another step towards fulfilling Qatar’s aspirations to develop a generation capable of leading the country’s renaissance and growth. Meanwhile, on the Arab front, Al-Watan expressed concern over an impending Israeli decision that could halt UNRWA’s operations by the end of January. This decision threatens to disrupt essential services to millions of Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The paper warned that the cessation of UNRWA’s humanitarian efforts could lead to a collapse in the region’s educational and health systems, with no alternative in place to provide these critical services.
Al-Watan called for urgent intervention by the United Nations, the US administration, and the international community to prevent what it described as a new crime and urged action to ensure compliance with international law. In Qatar, The Peninsula reported an exciting year ahead for sports, with the Qatar Olympic Committee’s 2025 calendar unveiling 84 events, including 15 world-class championships.
