Berlin:Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) is highlighting its significant projects and operational successes at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, participating under the Ministry of Transport's banner.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar Rail's involvement at the event emphasizes its contributions to creating a modern, integrated, and sustainable rail system in Qatar. The company's role in enhancing the nation's public transportation network is further underscored by its expertise in operating the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram, which provide safe and reliable services that improve connectivity and support sustainable mobility.
During the exhibition, Qatar Rail signed a strategic partnership agreement with DB Engineering and Consulting, part of the Deutsche Bahn Group. This collaboration focuses on enhancing coordination and sharing technical expertise and best practices within the railway sector, building on their longstanding relationship.
Jassim Mohammed Al Ansari, CEO of Qatar Rail, described the agreement as a significant step in fostering strategic partnerships that facilitate knowledge exchange and access to specialized global expertise. He noted that these efforts support the continued development of Qatar's rail system and aim to improve operational efficiency and passenger experiences.
Qatar Rail's participation in InnoTrans 2026 also serves as a platform to engage with industry leaders and explore innovations in smart mobility, safety, and maintenance. The company aims to strengthen Qatar's position in the global transport sector through such engagements.
The delegation from Qatar Rail also engaged with Hitachi Rail to explore innovations in rail technology, including a guided high-speed train tour and reviews of artificial intelligence applications in operations and maintenance.
At the exhibition, Qatar Rail showcased the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram projects. The Doha Metro has transported over 300 million passengers since its inception, highlighting public demand and a shift toward sustainable transport. The company also showcased its achievements during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, demonstrating its network's efficiency in managing peak spectator movement. Additionally, Qatar Rail displayed its international awards recognizing excellence in safety, sustainability, and operations.
