Qatar Reads Program to Host ‘Parents to Be Festival’ in February

Doha: The Qatar National Library's Qatar Reads initiative is set to organize the 5th 'Parents to Be Festival' from February 13 to 15, as part of its commitment to supporting families and fostering community culture in the areas of parenting and childhood.

According to Qatar News Agency, formerly known as the 'Mommy to Be Festival', this year's edition presents a fresh look designed for mothers and fathers. It primarily intends to provide an educational and interactive environment, bringing together experts and families to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to learn about the stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting, complemented with a family market and children's activities area.

The festival serves as a comprehensive platform and an educational opportunity for participants to attend lectures and hands-on workshops presented by specialists in various family-related fields. Visitors can also receive one-on-one consultations with professional experts from prominent institutions, such as Hamad General Hospital, Sidra Medicine, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar National Library, and Al-Ahli Hospital. They will provide personalized advice and direct support to families attending the event.

Project Manager of Qatar Reads, Fatema Al Malki, emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it offers a golden opportunity for expectant parents to gain practical knowledge that will help them navigate numerous challenges they may encounter during pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing.

The festival features numerous educational and recreational activities and scientific lectures, supervised by a select group of experts on familial affairs. The family market will feature approximately 15 vendors, focusing on books, educational products, and family activities, allowing parents to explore the latest products and services that cater to their everyday needs as well as their children's requirements. Visitors will find everything from breastfeeding supplies to educational toys, presented by renowned libraries and shops.

The activities space will offer children the chance to enjoy arts, crafts, and storytelling, with parents benefiting from the diverse sessions. The Parents to Be Festival represents a unique opportunity for the local community, extending support to families during one of the most significant stages of their lives.

In addition, many exhibitors are slated to participate in this festival, including the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Social Development and Family, thereby offering the opportunity for participants to get familiarized with the state-of-art initiatives and services related to family.
