Doha: In their editorials on Sunday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the State of Qatar's readiness to host the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, scheduled to take place in Doha from December 1 to December 18.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers emphasized Doha's growing reputation as a major hub for important events, such as the Doha Forum, the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), and its designation as the Capital of Arab Media, among others.
Al-Raya newspaper stressed that Qatar places great importance on sports, noting its distinguished record in hosting international sporting events. Since 2005, the country has hosted numerous events, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, regarded as the best edition ever, showcasing Arab and Qatari culture. This was seen to contribute to development efforts in the region. The paper also mentioned other significant events hosted by Qatar, such as the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the 2015 Men's Handball World Championship, and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Al-Raya concluded by stating that Qatar is fully prepared to host the Arab Cup, with the local organizing committee announcing the completion of preparations. The tournament will feature 16 national teams from the Arab world, drawing significant interest from fans regionally.
Al-Watan newspaper noted that the preparations for the 11th edition of the Arab Cup reflect Qatar's civilized image and its success in organizing major sporting events. It emphasized the tournament's impact on Qatar's tourism sector, combining football excitement with cultural and entertainment promotion. The newspaper also highlighted the opportunity for Arab visitors to explore Qatar's famous landmarks and cultural activities, amid a strong influx of visitors.
The Arab Cup is seen as a significant sporting and tourism event, with Qatar witnessing notable growth in its tourism sector. Over 2.6 million international visitors were recorded in the first half of 2025, marking a 3% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
