Qatar Set to Participate in 65th International Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly 2025 in Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, is gearing up to participate in the 65th International Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA), scheduled to take place from August 2 to 9 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event will see participation from over 70 countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar will be represented by full Quran memorization contestant Fahad Saeed Saleh Al Quraisi. He will be accompanied by Sheikh Nabil Ali Qanweil, who will oversee the revision process to ensure the contestant's preparedness. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Darwish, Head of the Scholarship Section at Awqaf's Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance, will lead the Qatari delegation to this assembly.

Fahd Ahmed Al Muhammad, Head of Awqaf's Department of the Holy Qur'an and Its Sciences, emphasized that this participation highlights Awqaf's commitment to maintaining a presence in international forums related to the Holy Qur'an. This competition is regarded as one of the most established religious competitions in the Islamic world.

The contestant Al Quraisi was chosen for this role after extensive preparation. He is expected to enhance the honored results previously achieved by Qatari competitors in similar forums, as noted by Al Muhammad. Notably, Qatar has seen success in the past, with Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Hamri securing first place in 2015 and Abdullah Hamad Abu Shuraida clinching third place in 2014.

This year's competition theme is "Developing a MADANI Ummah," and it will be officially inaugurated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The judging panel will consist of 16 qualified scholars from countries such as Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Indonesia.
