Qatar to Host 6th Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development on Sunday

Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, is set to host the 6th Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development 2025, under the theme "urban sustainability... for the future of generations." The forum, held under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, will take place from December 14-16.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event will run concurrently with the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction. This three-day forum will gather experts and specialists from Arab, regional, and international institutions. The first day will feature a high-level opening session with Arab ministers, followed by discussions on the future of housing policies in the Arab region, the role of urban planning in building resilient and sustainable cities, and promoting regional cooperation in housing and urban development. Key sessions will also address innovation in meeting future housing demand.

The second day will focus on specialized sessions and workshops tackling topics like smart cities, digital transformation, post-crisis reconstruction strategies, affordable housing models, and sustainable urban environments. Additionally, mechanisms for enhancing urban inclusion will be explored.

On the third day, the forum will emphasize partnerships and future initiatives through sessions discussing the role of international and regional organizations in supporting housing policies, financing urban projects, and modern trends in improving urban quality of life. The forum will conclude with the announcement of joint recommendations and an Arab roadmap for sustainable urban development.

An exhibition will be staged alongside the forum, featuring Arab and international governmental bodies, the private sector, and leading urban development institutions. The exhibition will showcase the latest urban development experiences, smart solutions for future cities, innovative technologies in green buildings, and practical examples of national initiatives to improve urban life quality.

Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Fahad Mohammed Al Khayarin, emphasized that Qatar's hosting of this forum underscores its commitment to supporting urban and social development in the region and fostering joint Arab action. He highlighted that the forum serves as a vital Arab platform for enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise, and building effective partnerships in housing and urban development, contributing to future visions based on innovation and sustainability.
