Doha:The State of Qatar has launched the Advanced Manufacturing Hub, known as Manarat, marking a pivotal development for the nation's industrial sector. This initiative, unveiled by Qatar Development Bank, is the first of its kind in the country and aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced technology solutions and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies by next-generation factories. According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab newspaper underscored the project's role in attracting local manufacturers and companies that utilize advanced technology. It also aims to draw international investors to foster knowledge exchange and empower industrial value chains, all within a unified ecosystem that promotes growth and innovation. The industrial advancements in Qatar are evidenced by significant investments, with cumulative figures reaching QAR 248.44 billion by the second quarter of 2026. In the first half of 2026 alone, 28 new factories commenced production, and the percentage of Qatari factories exporting abroad increased to 25%, boosting the competitiveness of national products in regional and international markets. Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted that the launch of Manarat is a milestone for Qatar's industrial sector. It signifies a shift from traditional industrial practices to advanced manufacturing, utilizing technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence. This project, a collaboration between Qatar Development Bank and various national ministries, aims to provide an integrated ecosystem to enhance production capabilities and operational efficiency. The significance of Manarat aligns with the Qatar National Manufacturing Strategy 2024-2030, aiming to increase the manufacturing sector's contribution to the non-hydrocarbon GDP and create specialized jobs in advanced technology sectors. These sectors include pharmaceuticals, medical devices, electronics, telecommunications, robotics, and chemicals, which are crucial for building a diversified industrial base. Additionally, The Peninsula newspaper note d Qatar's efforts in strengthening its food security system as an example of effective long-term planning. The absence of supply shortages during regional crises highlights the importance of strategic reserves and local production. Qatar's National Food Security Strategy 2030 addresses broader challenges, linking food security with sustainability and effective partnerships. Qatar's initiatives, such as Manarat and its food security measures, demonstrate the country's commitment to innovation, resilience, and strategic planning in its national development agenda.
