Doha: The Qatar women's volleyball team is gearing up to compete in the third edition of the West Asia Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, from September 3 to 7. The event will feature teams from Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon, each vying for the championship title and a coveted spot in the 2027 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation is set to depart for Amman on Tuesday. The team is focused on achieving positive results and securing the championship. Qatar's campaign will kick off against the host nation, Jordan, on Thursday, September 3, at 6 PM. Following this, they will face Iraq on September 5 at 4 PM and conclude their round-robin matches against Lebanon on September 7 at 4 PM.
The tournament's format will see each team playing three matches, with the team securing the most wins being crowned champion. The victorious team will also earn direct qualification for the 2027 Asian Championship. The Qatari squad comprises 12 players and is under the guidance of Argentine coach Lucas Carolo, with assistance from Nahuel Alejandro. The delegation also includes technical, administrative, and medical staff to support the team throughout the competition.
