Post: Qatari Artist Mubarak Al-Thani Explores Urban Landscapes in New Exhibition

Doha:Msheireb Museums, in partnership with al markhiya gallery, has launched 'Between the Architectures,' a solo exhibition by Qatari artist and urban planner Mubarak Al-Thani. The exhibition, held at Mohammed Bin Jassim House, delves into the intersection of architecture, memory, and identity through a collection of paintings and sculptures.

According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition deconstructs and reimagines architectural forms using elements such as geometric structures, repetition, patterns, shifting lines, density, proportion, and depth. Mubarak Al-Thani uses these elements to explore how places are constructed, experienced, and remembered, highlighting the evolving understanding of these spaces over time.

Mohammed Al Yousef, Manager of Operations and Visitor Relations at Msheireb Museums, emphasized the museum's commitment to supporting Qatari artists and engaging with Qatar's architectural heritage. He noted that the exhibition offers new ways for audiences to experience the city's evolving narrative through creative expression.

Mubarak Al-Thani remarked that Doha embodies both heritage and contemporary elements, describing his work as existing between what is built and what is remembered. He expressed that presenting his work at Msheireb Museums, in collaboration with al markhiya gallery, feels like bringing his creations back to their source of inspiration.

Anas Kutit, Managing Director at al markhiya gallery, highlighted the unique perspective Al-Thani brings as both an artist and urban planner. Kutit noted that the collaboration with Msheireb Museums presents an opportunity to engage with both historic and rapidly developing urban settings, aligning with the gallery's goal of connecting contemporary Qatari artists with institutions that enrich the meaning of their work.

The exhibition invites audiences to view architecture not just as a physical structure, but as a medium that shapes how we remember and experience the places we inhabit.
