Qatari Mediation Efforts Highlighted Amid Regional Crises

Doha: Al-Watan newspaper spotlighted Qatar's successful mediation in resolving numerous regional and international crises, reinforcing its position as a reliable and effective mediator on the international stage. This role reflects Qatar's commitment to consolidating security, stability, and promoting peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan emphasized that Qatari mediation has facilitated resolutions to many crises over recent years, impacting regions beyond the Arab world, including Asia and Africa. Qatar's mediation efforts have addressed conflicts involving countries, political groups, armed factions, and opposition forces, showcasing a record of diverse successes.

Al-Watan also discussed a recent meeting between Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe. The meeting focused on resolving the crisis between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, highlighting Qatar's ongoing efforts to de-escalate the situation and promote security and peace.

Meanwhile, Al-Raya newspaper highlighted the pressing issue of the Gaza Strip's conflict. Qatar and Egypt are engaging in joint mediation with the United States to achieve a permanent ceasefire by resolving hostage and detainee crises and ensuring humanitarian aid access. A joint statement from Qatar and Egypt affirmed their commitment to intensive efforts to bridge differences and reach a ceasefire agreement, based on a proposal from the US President's envoy to the Middle East.

Al-Raya concluded by noting the joint call for an immediate 60-day temporary truce, aiming for a permanent ceasefire. This move is intended to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, facilitate the opening of crossings, and allow humanitarian aid entry, alleviating the suffering of Palestinians and initiating reconstruction efforts in the Strip.

Furthermore, The Peninsula newspaper celebrated Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the 2025 Champions League final, marking a historic milestone for the club under Qatari ownership.
