Doha: Qatari newspapers on Friday devoted extensive coverage to the funeral held yesterday by the State of Qatar, leadership and people, for the martyrs of the treacherous Israeli attack that targeted residential buildings in Doha last Tuesday, highlighting the performance of the funeral prayer by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
According to Qatar News Agency, the papers also focused on Qatar's hosting of the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers for the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, scheduled for next Sunday, followed by the summit itself on Monday, to discuss the Israeli aggression and its repercussions for regional stability. They stressed that the convening of the summit reflects the scale of solidarity expressed by brotherly and friendly countries, which unanimously condemned the Israeli attack as a violation of national sovereignty and a factor fueling escalation and instability in the region.
In this context, Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial entitled "The Rogue State" that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani performed the funeral prayer yesterday afternoon for the martyrs of the homeland who fell as a result of the treacherous Israeli attack on Doha. The paper noted that HH the Amir also offered condolences to the families of the martyrs at Mesaimeer Cemetery following the funeral, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy upon them, grant them paradise, and protect Qatar, its people, and residents.
The paper added that such leadership, people, and principles are a source of pride and honor, for which lives and all that is precious are sacrificed, as did martyr Badr Al Dosari, who fell while performing his duty during the cowardly attack on Qatari soil. It further referred to direct threats issued by the Israeli prime minister to justify this brutal assault. Al-Watan concluded by affirming that the broad solidarity with Qatar reflects, on one hand, its prominent standing in the international community, and on the other, exposes Israel as a rogue state that has become synonymous with lawlessness, and must be curbed to spare the region its dangers.
Meanwhile, Al-Sharq newspaper, under the headline "Strong Support for Qatar at the Security Council", highlighted in its editorial the emergency session of the UN Security Council held last night to discuss the Israeli attack on Qatar, noting that it reinforced the vital role Qatar continues to play in mediation efforts in the region, and represented a diplomatic success for Qatar at the international and regional levels in confronting state terrorism, violations of sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter. The paper said that the strong reactions and condemnation of the Israeli attack, led by wide global solidarity with Qatar and the powerful statements voiced by Security Council members, underscored Qatar's stature on the international stage, while further isolating Israel and its rejected policies.
Al-Sharq concluded by affirming that Qatar is determined to take all measures to safeguard its security and territorial integrity, confront Israeli barbarism, and continue consultations with partners and friends to ensure accountability for the Israeli entity and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted for international justice, for the crime of aggression committed against the State of Qatar.
