Qatari Newspapers Highlight Amir’s Participation in ASEAN-GCC Summits

Doha: Qatari newspapers underscored HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's involvement in the second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Economic Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The editorials emphasized the significance of these events for Qatar in fostering relationships between GCC countries, ASEAN member states, and China.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari dailies collectively noted that the Amir's participation underscores Qatar's dedication to strengthening ties with GCC and ASEAN nations. Al-Sharq, in its editorial titled "GCC and ASEAN: Consolidating Cooperation and Shared Prosperity," highlighted the importance Qatar places on these summits to enhance collaboration across various sectors. The editorial further mentioned Qatar's accession to Asian groupings, such as joining the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in August 2022, as a step towards building strategic partnerships in the region.

Al-Watan echoed similar sentiments, focusing on the strategic cooperation between Qatar and ASEAN countries. In its editorial titled "Strategic Cooperation," the newspaper pointed out Qatar's significant investments in ASEAN nations across multiple industries, including energy, finance, and healthcare. Al-Watan concluded by affirming the strong relations between Qatar and Malaysia, suggesting that the Amir's visit could lead to enhanced political and economic collaboration between the two countries, benefiting their mutual interests and reinforcing ties with ASEAN.

The Qatari newspapers expressed optimism that the Kuala Lumpur summits will result in outcomes favorable to all parties involved, promoting cooperation, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
