Qatari Newspapers Highlight Diplomatic Efforts and Regional Developments

Doha: Qatari newspapers addressed a number of topics in their Monday editorials, both locally and regionally, particularly highlighting Qatar's important diplomatic position and its pivotal role in consolidating the foundations of peace, thanks to the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The newspapers emphasized that, under HH the Amir's leadership, the State of Qatar has become an effective voice for peace and a key pillar in international and regional efforts to enhance security and stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, on the local front, the newspapers praised the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's 2024-2030 strategy, considering it an important step toward achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and graduating a generation of confident, self-reliant individuals who work hard to succeed in their academic and professional lives. In another local development, newspapers highlighted Qatar Tourism's efforts to enhance Qatar's position on the global tourism map through unique events and programs that have helped make Qatar a preferred destination for visitors seeking experiences that combine the authenticity of the past, the spirit of the present, and a vision for the future.

For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its Monday editorial that Qatar's efforts and mediation, which have not ceased since the first day of the outbreak of the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, have succeeded in reaching two truces, the first in December 2023 and the second in January 2025, which led to the release of more than 130 hostages from the Gaza Strip and the liberation of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from the occupation's prisons. The paper stressed that many lives could have been saved and bloodshed prevented had it not been the Israeli occupation government's failure to commit to moving forward with the implementation of the stages and provisions of the ceasefire agreement that was reached in January.

Al-Sharq pointed out that there is a new opportunity for genuine peace that can lead to a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, which in turn changes the entire region from a state of continuous conflict to one of stability, security, and prosperity for the benefit of all people in the Middle East. Qatar considers every diplomatic effort it makes for peace and opening new horizons for regional cooperation and dialogue an investment in a more prosperous and secure future for the entire region and its people, the newspaper concluded.

In turn, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted the ongoing Israeli violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian citizens in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank. The newspaper pointed out that dozens of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in groups, conducting provocative tours of its courtyards and performing Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli occupation forces. A number of Palestinians suffered from suffocation during Israeli occupation forces' raids on several areas in the occupied West Bank, before arresting 17 citizens.

The newspaper noted that various parts of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem are witnessing daily raids and incursions into villages and towns by Israeli occupation forces, amid the escalating Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. Al-Watan warned against the escalation in killing and abuse, and the continued incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, and considered them a daily provocation. The newspaper expressed regret over the international silence and the lack of weight in global responses, as if what is happening in the occupied territories is a normal part of life. What Israel and those behind it have not realized is that the resistance will continue as long as a just and comprehensive solution is not reached, and what is seen does not, unfortunately, inspire any optimism, Al-Watan concluded.
