Doha: The Qatari newspapers highlighted, in their editorials on Thursday, a range of topics and developments, including significant developmental achievements at the local level and active diplomatic efforts that affirm the State of Qatar role as an influential player in supporting international peace and stability. They also emphasized Qatar firm stance in condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, along with the accompanying systematic starvation policies and direct targeting of civilians.
According to Qatar News Agency, on the domestic front, Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial today that the completion of works of the third package of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Kharaitiyat and Izghawa areas reflects the significant efforts of the Public Works Authority Ashghalto enhance social welfare and promote a healthy lifestyle through the improvement of the road network and public services. The third package serves about 1,383 plots in the area through the development of internal streets and construction of shared pedestrian and cycling paths, in addition to developing infrastructure facilities such as rainwater and groundwater drainage networks, carried out in accordance with the highest standards, it added.
The newspaper also noted that Ashghal continues to implement numerous projects across various areas of the country. It highlighted the announcement made last month by HE President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meerstating that the Authority will carry out projects worth QR 81 billion over the next five years. These projects aim to strengthen infrastructure, keep pace with urban expansion, and launch new initiatives through a public-private partnership system. Al-Watan concluded its editorial by affirming that these projects are fully aligned with the state's vision and its approach toward involving the private sector and achieving well-being for all.
On the other hand, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted in its editorial Qatar's leading role in peacebuilding and in promoting security and stability in the region and the world, in addition to being one of the largest donors of humanitarian aid. It noted that Qatar participation in the Oslo Forum for Peace reflects its prominent international presence in global platforms and its efforts in building regional peace by supporting dialogue between nations. It also highlighted Qatar key role in numerous mediation efforts and its well-recognized and significant contributions to humanitarian efforts in conflict and crisis zones.
In this context, the participation of HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi as a speaker in the first high-level session of the Oslo Forum for Peace, currently underway in the Norwegian capital, comes as part of these efforts, Al-Sharq added. Despite major challenges and attempts at obstruction, and stemming from its humanitarian duty before political considerations, as well as its adoption of mediation and humanitarian work as a strategic political choice, the State of Qatar continues its efforts to mediate conflict resolution through peaceful means, the newspaper noted.
Al-Sharq concluded by saying that the rapid developments and changes occurring in the Middle East require regional actors to take the initiative through joint action using new mechanisms to protect regional security, shape the future of collective security and achieve sustainable stability, rather than merely managing crises.
