Post: Qatar’s Central Market Readiness Assessed for Upcoming Farming Season

Doha:The Permanent Committee for the Supervision of Central Markets in Qatar has conducted an inspection of the Al Sailiya Central Market in preparation for the upcoming local agricultural season.

According to Qatar News Agency, the visit focused on evaluating the market's operational and service readiness, with an emphasis on supporting local farmers and agricultural production. This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance food security and maintain stable consumer supplies.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) stated that the committee examined the readiness of market facilities and services essential for the marketing and distribution of agricultural products. The inspection included reviewing the availability and diversity of fruits and vegetables, assessing the needs of farmers and market workers, and exploring ways to facilitate farmers' access to the central market system.

The committee also evaluated cleaning, maintenance, and organizational arrangements, ensuring that appropriate conditions are provided for vendors and shoppers. Operational challenges were identified, and potential solutions were discussed to enhance market efficiency.

Regular field inspections and improved coordination among relevant authorities were highlighted as crucial for the effective functioning of Qatar's central market network, ensuring a steady supply of agricultural and food products.
