Qatar’s Diplomatic Engagements with Libya and Syria Reaffirmed

Doha: In recent editorials, Qatari newspapers highlighted the nation's steadfast support for Libya and Syria, emphasizing its commitment to fostering stability and unity in these countries. Al-Watan reported that the State of Qatar has consistently backed the Libyan political process, aligned with United Nations Security Council resolutions, and supported peaceful solutions to maintain Libya's unity and sovereignty. This support aims to fulfill the Libyan people's aspirations for security, peace, development, and prosperity.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a meeting with Libya's Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, reaffirmed Qatar's firm position in support of Libya's unity and development. Similarly, in discussions with Syria's Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani, Qatar reiterated its supportive stance towards Syria's unity, sovereignty, and independence, while also focusing on institution-building and stabilization efforts.

Al-Watan underscored Qatar's longstanding and strong relations with both Libya and Syria, noting the remarkable development of these ties over the years. The high-level visits and meetings reflect a shared desire to strengthen bilateral relations, built on the enduring connections between the countries.

Al-Arab echoed these sentiments by highlighting the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Qatar and both Syria and Libya, reinforced by Qatar's continued support for the stability and territorial integrity of these nations. The newspaper emphasized that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's meetings with Libyan and Syrian leaders reaffirmed Qatar's unwavering support for their unity and political processes.

Meanwhile, on the domestic front, The Peninsula newspaper spotlighted Qatar's prominent position in motorsport, with the Lusail International Circuit preparing to host three major racing events. The editorial noted that the circuit will stage the FIA World Endurance Championship Qatar 1812 KM, the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix, and the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix within a span of five weeks in 2026, highlighting Qatar's reputation as a destination for world-class sporting events.
