Post: Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality Implements New Farm Subdivision Regulations

Doha:The Ministry of Municipality has announced the implementation of new regulations for the subdivision of farms in Qatar. These regulations include reducing the minimum area required for a farm subdivision from 100,000 square meters to 50,000 square meters.

According to Qatar News Agency, this initiative aims to balance the optimal utilization of agricultural land with the conservation of groundwater resources. It also seeks to expand agricultural investment opportunities, support small and medium-sized agricultural projects, and enhance food security in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The ministry emphasized that this measure is part of a broader effort to develop the agricultural sector in Qatar. By encouraging farm owners to maximize the use of their agricultural holdings, the ministry aims to enhance land-use efficiency and bolster agricultural production growth within the country.

Furthermore, the reduction in the minimum subdivision area provides greater flexibility for owners of productive farms wishing to subdivide their land. This represents a significant change from previous regulations, which required a minimum subdivision area of 100,000 square meters. The new regulation allows for more efficient investment in agricultural land for its designated activities and purposes, following established terms and guidelines.

The modification is anticipated to attract new investors to the agricultural sector, particularly those with the technical and financial capability to develop the subdivided land. This is expected to broaden the agricultural investment base, increase the land area used for production, and positively impact the volume of domestic agricultural output.

The Ministry of Municipality also stated that these regulations are part of an effort to create a more favorable environment for investment and agricultural production. By developing regulatory frameworks that ensure optimal land use, the ministry aims to expand investment opportunities and support the state's goals of increasing local production and achieving self-sufficiency.
