Doha: Qatari newspapers have highlighted the significant role played by the State of Qatar in promoting peace and resolving conflicts, particularly in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), through its ongoing mediation efforts. These efforts include following up on the implementation of agreements to enhance prospects for stability and sustainable peace.
According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials also focused on the dangers posed by the Israeli "E1" settlement plan east of occupied Jerusalem. The plan threatens the territorial continuity of Palestinian land and undermines peace opportunities, underscoring the need for the international community to take responsibility and halt Israeli violations.
Domestically, the newspapers discussed Qatar's initiatives to support education beyond its borders through the Education Above All Foundation. These initiatives aim to expand educational opportunities for vulnerable groups and link education to sustainable development.
Al-Raya emphasized Qatar's unique approach to mediation, drawing on a legacy of diplomatic successes over more than a quarter-century. Qatar's mediation process goes beyond signing agreements to end conflicts, focusing instead on building trust between parties and ensuring understandings translate into tangible realities. The newspaper noted that Qatari mediation led to the Doha Framework for the Peace Agreement in November 2025, with consensus reached on a practical roadmap for its execution during talks hosted by Switzerland. Al-Raya concluded that Qatar's role in the Great Lakes region extends beyond conventional mediation, involving monitoring agreement implementation. The newspaper highlighted Qatar's sponsorship of the "Doha Framework for a Comprehensive Peace Agreement," which provided a neutral platform for dialogue between the DRC government and the M23 Movement, building trust and paving the way for ending decades of tension and armed clashes.
