Qatar’s Tourism Sector Experiences Significant Growth Amid Strategic Investments


Doha: Qatar’s tourism sector witnessed significant growth in 2024, as highlighted by Al-Raya newspaper, with a 25% increase in visitors compared to the previous year. The country welcomed 5,076,640 tourists, reflecting its rising prominence on the global tourism map. This growth is attributed to Qatar’s rich attractions and strategic investments, which have also led to a 38% increase in spending, totaling 40 billion Qatari riyals. Hotel occupancy rates rose by 21% to 69%, while the number of hotel rooms increased by 5%, reaching 41,000.



According to Qatar News Agency, the year 2024 featured a calendar filled with events, conferences, exhibitions, and sports tournaments, aligning with Qatar National Vision’s goal to diversify the economy and boost revenue from non-oil sectors, particularly tourism. Qatar is noted for its safety and hospitality, maintaining an open-door policy for guests year-round. The past year underscored Qatar’s significant role in global tourism, bolstered by hosting major business events, cultural festivals, and launching innovative initiatives. Al-Raya concluded that Qatar has garnered the trust of millions worldwide who are eager to explore its attractions.
