Doha: October 29 - Secretary-General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation Tariq Zainal said he was happy with the selection of Doha to permanently host the newly created Padel Asia. Speaking to Qatar News Agency , Zainal took pride in being elected the first Padel Asia president by the International Padel Federation's 34th General Assembly. He attributed his election as Padel Asia President to Qatar's huge efforts to support padel globally, which was evident in Qatar's hosting of the first World Padel Championship in 2021, the first to be staged outside Europe and the Americas. Qatar will press on its great support to this sport by hosting the World Padel Championship Qatar 2024 for the second time in three years, he said, hailing Qatar as one of the best countries in hosting major events and tournaments. He added he would work to develop and spread padel across Asia and the Middle East. Source: Qatar News Agency
