QSE Opens Lower Despite QR1.781 Billion Turnover on Major Debt Trade

Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index experienced a decline of 51.04 points, or 0.47%, reaching 10,795 at the start of trading on Monday, compared to the previous session's close.

According to Qatar News Agency, the index faced downward pressure due to losses across four sectors. Telecoms led the fall with a 0.73% decline, followed by Industrials with a 0.64% decrease, Banks and Financial Services dropping by 0.60%, and Real Estate slipping by 0.27%. In contrast, some sectors saw gains, with Transportation increasing by 0.47%, Insurance by 0.06%, and Consumer Goods and Services by 0.04%.

Despite the overall decline, QSE reported a significant turnover of QR 1.781 billion by 10:00 am. This was primarily driven by a single transaction involving debt instruments valued at QR 1.74 billion. The trading volume amounted to 16.788 million shares, spread across 2,753 transactions.
