QU Admits 900 Students for Spring 2025 Semester, with 70% Qatari Enrollment

DOHA: Qatar University (QU) has announced the admission of approximately 900 male and female undergraduate students for the Spring 2025 semester, with a significant 70 percent of the cohort being Qatari nationals.

According to Qatar News Agency, the university has urged all applicants to check their admission status through their e-admission accounts on the official website. Dr. Mohammad Diab, QU Vice President for Student Affairs, emphasized that admissions are determined based on competitiveness, and meeting the minimum secondary school requirements does not automatically guarantee placement in any specific college. He encouraged students who were not admitted for the Spring 2025 semester to reapply for the Fall 2025 semester.

Dr. Diab reiterated the university’s commitment to providing quality education that extends beyond academic achievement, offering a comprehensive experience that includes both academic and extracurricular activities to help shape students’ personalities and develop their skills. He highlighted QU’s goal to create a stimulating educational environment that supports students’ excellence and helps them achieve their ambitions and future goals.

The Director of Admissions, Fatima Al Kawari, announced that an online orientation program for new and transfer students will be conducted on January 12, before the semester starts on January 19. The add/drop period will conclude on January 23. Al Kawari explained that the orientation aims to introduce students to university services and policies, and its completion is mandatory for finalizing admission. Failure to attend the program will result in admission cancellation, after which students must reapply for a future semester.

Al Kawari noted that the orientation will be hosted on an electronic platform, featuring videos and presentations to convey essential university information. Furthermore, QU confirmed its scholarship decisions for the Spring 2025 semester, which include excellence scholarships, scholarships for children of GCC nationals with a Qatari high school diploma, and scholarships for children of QU employees. Decisions regarding performance-based scholarships for currently enrolled students will be disclosed on January 19.
