QU to Host ISBS 2025: The World’s Leading Conference on Sport Biomechanics November 2-6

Doha: For the first time in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Qatar University (QU) will host the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS) Conference 2025, co-organized by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), from November 2 to 6. In a press release issued Tuesday, QU said that this prestigious global event will spotlight the recently established College of Sport Sciences at QU as it welcomes more than 200 participants from over 40 countries to Doha.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dean of QU's College of Sport Sciences Prof. Khalid Bibi commented, "Hosting ISBS 2025 in Qatar for the very first time in the MENA region is a landmark achievement for the College of Sport Sciences and for QU. This global conference offers our students unparalleled opportunities to engage with world-class researchers, attend live demonstrations, and gain direct exposure to the latest scientific advances in sport biomechanics."

In turn, ISBS President Prof. Hiroyuki Nunome said, "The conference promises to be an excellent event for our members to exchange research ideas and bring the ISBS conference to a new area of the globe." ISBS 2025 will feature a rich academic program with around 120 scientific papers, keynote lectures, and applied laboratory workshops.

The conference will also include the symbolic flag handover ceremony to Loughborough University (UK), which will host the 2026 edition. With the support of over 12 international sponsors in sport technology and key local partners including the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Qatar Tourism, and the Qatar Anti-Doping Commission, the conference will serve as a platform for advancing collaborations, promoting joint projects, and opening new professional and academic pathways for students.

Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, ISBS 2025 will contribute directly to the pillars of health, youth empowerment, and the knowledge economy. Students will benefit from travel grants, academic mentoring, and unique hands-on experiences throughout the conference.
