Regional Solution Emphasized as Key to Ending Crisis, Says Qatari Official

Doha: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari stressed the need for a regional solution to the ongoing crisis, with priority given to stabilizing a ceasefire and achieving peace. He highlighted that Gulf littoral states and supply chain-linked countries are directly involved, alongside necessary international engagement.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a weekly media briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Al Ansari stated that the immediate focus is on consolidating a ceasefire to transition it into lasting peace, while acknowledging the premature nature of discussing final settlements amid ongoing efforts to conclude the war and avert regional escalation.

Addressing developments in Lebanon, Dr. Al Ansari reaffirmed Qatar's support for Lebanon's unity and condemned violations of its sovereignty, including Israeli operations. He emphasized that sustainable solutions are achievable only through dialogue and diplomacy. Qatar continues to support regional, international, and Lebanese efforts toward de-escalation and ending hostilities, maintaining communication with Lebanese and regional parties.

On the economic front, Dr. Al Ansari noted the crisis's impact on global energy markets, mentioning disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz affecting electricity and fuel prices, with further repercussions on petrochemicals and other sectors. He affirmed Qatar's economic resilience and the region's ability to face challenges, underscored by past experiences.

Dr. Al Ansari reiterated the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz for navigation without conditions, stressing that it is an international passage that cannot be controlled by any single party. He expressed Qatar's commitment to defending its sovereignty against threats and condemned aggressive actions, while ensuring security and safety measures are in place.
